MyCatSite is now SafeHappyCat – We’re Back

The Journey of Our Community: From MyCatSite to SafeHappyCat

Welcome to the official history of our platform. While our name and interface have evolved during the shift from MyCatSite to SafeHappyCat, our mission to celebrate and protect feline companions has remained constant for nearly two decades.

2008 – 2012: The MyCatSite.com Era

MyCatSite.com was launched in 2008 during the early “golden age” of the social web. Originally intended to be a simple photo-sharing hub and community for cat enthusiasts, it quickly blossomed into one of the internet’s most vibrant websites for “crazy cat people” before the term was even a badge of honor.

  • The Early Days: In 2008, the site introduced the its first webpages about cat health, cat safety, and cat breed information.
  • A Growing Community: By 2010, the platform hosted over 100 pages, providing a space for everything from grieving lost pets to sharing DIY “catio” blueprints.
  • The Sunset: As web technologies shifted and social media became more fragmented, the original MyCatSite infrastructure began to age. Temporarily abandoned in 2012, the site remained static for over a decade, running on its original server as a legacy site.

2012-2024: The Site goes dark

Temporarily abandoned in 2012, the site remained static for over a decade, running on its original server as a legacy site. The site gradually grew more antiquated until its utility was severely compromised.

2025: The Revival as SafeHappyCat.com

In January 2025, the platform was reborn as SafeHappyCat.com. This wasn’t just a rebrand; it was a total reimagining of what a digital cat community should be in the modern age.

The shift to SafeHappyCat reflected a new, urgent focus on the holistic well-being of cats. While MyCatSite was about sharing cats, SafeHappyCat is about protecting them.

Why the Change?

Our Editorial Assistant and Product Tester, Punkin

“We realized that being a cat lover today means more than just posting cute photos. It also means ensuring our cats are indoor-safe, mentally stimulated, and truly healthy.” — Stephen and Raven Fabal, and our assistant, Punkin.

Key Pillars of the Revival:

  • Safety First: A dedicated focus on “Catios,” harness training, and the transition from outdoor to indoor living to protect both cats and local wildlife.
  • Mental Enrichment: Modern resources on feline behavior, interactive play, and environmental stimulation to prevent “boredom-based” behavioral issues.
  • Rescue Integration (Coming Soon): Directly linking our community to shelters (like the one you might be considering!) to prioritize adoption over breeding.

Our Future

Today, SafeHappyCat.com continues the legacy of MyCatSite by bridging the gap between old-school community spirit and new-school veterinary science. We are proud to be the web’s safest space for cats and their human companions.
